Most of the after-dark activity in Salinas, and all along the coast, is located close to the beach on the Malecón. Choclo's (on the Malecón and Calle 23, next to Empanadas Milanis) is one of the most popular spots, with neon lights over the bar and a mixed crowd. It's open Wednesday through Sunday from 8pm on. The Oystercatcher Bar, on Avenida 2, between calles 47 and 50 (tel. 04/2778-329), is another good bet, popular with expatriates. For live music, especially on weekends, check out Peña El Colonial, on the Malecón between calles Guayas and Quil (tel. 04/2771-949).
