Most of the after-dark activity in Salinas, and all along the coast, is located close to the beach on the Malecón. Longboard's (tel. 08/4106-629), Malecón 319, is one of the most popular spots, with several different rooms and environments, including an open-air patio bar, dance floor, and VIP lounge. The Oystercatcher Bar (tel. 04/2778-329), Avenida 2, between calles 47 and 50, is another good bet, and is popular with expatriates. For dancing and a late-night scene, the new Praia Disco (tel. 09/2312-309), about 4 blocks inland on the south side of town, has emerged as a top spot for the young and well-heeled.
