Frommer's Review
A tad more reserved than Coconuts Beach Club, this resort sits on a rise overlooking the lagoon. A path leads down to a magnificent crescent-shaped beach -- backed by the proverbial palm grove -- which separates it from Coconuts. Three spacious bungalows open to this beach; they can interconnect to form Sinalei's presidential suite. There's a second, more private beach area, where reside five fales, one a honeymoon unit with a swimming pool set into its front porch. The other guest bungalows are up on the hill and flank the central buildings, which gives some of them fine sea views. They are of European construction, with peaked shingle roofs and glass walls across the front. Some also have separate bedrooms and hot tubs set in their verandas. The beach and honeymoon fales lack air-conditioners, but they do have ceiling fans. A group of three open, Samoan-style thatched-roof buildings comprise the central complex, one each covering reception and gift shop, dining room, and bar. The bar opens to a lovely hilltop pool with a waterfall and huge lava rocks at its edge, but thick foliage obscures the sea view. At the end of a pier, a second restaurant overlooks freshwater welling up from a spring beneath the lagoon. You can indulge in the spa, participate in a wide range of watersports, and practice your game on the resort's 9-hole golf course.
