Active Pursuits

View from the Top -- Many marked trails and several challenging hikes originate in Samobor. Beginners can try a combo ride-walk technique to access a four-story tower and platform erected in 2006. If you aren't afraid to climb this open steel structure (it has stairs), you will be treated to a spectacular 360-degree view of the Zumberak and beyond. From the main square, take the narrow, unmarked road next to the town museum and follow Sv. Ane Ulica to a sign that says "Vidikovac Turanj Tepec" (vantage point). Turn right on the gravel road immediately opposite the sign, park, and walk about 100m (328 ft.) to the tower. There are other marked trails through the woods near the tower. Directions to more challenging routes can be obtained at the tourist office on the main square in Samobor.
