Vendetta’s motto is “living well is the best revenge.” and owner Bruce Rothenberg is all about the finer things in life. At his shop in Nob Hill’s Fairmont Hotel, he sells high quality items like fine Italian caps and Persol sunglasses, but Bruce’s real specialty is the pre-embargo Cuban cigars he lovingly sells to customers with the reluctance of someone selling his offspring. He knows the history of these babies, dating from 1947 to 1962, and assures you that, like a fine wine, they only get more character with age. It’s one of the few stores in the country selling Cubans, and you will pay the price for one of these rare stogies—cigars range from $125 to $250 apiece. Bruce has added a separate smoking room with a cushy sofa where guests can light up and enjoy their purchases. Don’t worry, if the Cubans are out of your price range, he carries Dominican and Nicaraguan cigars for a fraction of the price. Open Tuesday through Saturday, 12:30 through 7pm.
