It’s no surprise the night before the Rolling Stones performed a show in Puerto Rico during their last tour, Mick Jagger and Keith Richards showed up around midnight here to hear some live salsa. The Nuyorican is the real deal, the spot to hear local music of high quality, with live bands playing salsa and Latin jazz, among other genres. The performance is usually inspired and the cover charge reasonable (below $10 unless something special). Throw in a great crowd, weekly evening salsa lessons, periodic theatrical performances, and tasty pizza and other food. This is about the music though. Don't expect snappy and flawless service.
