Frommer's Review
Tucked away in a small house just off Broadway -- look for Earl Abel's large sign across the street -- this family-run restaurant cooks up great dishes from interior Mexico. All are good. The owners are from Mexico, but they will serve Tex-Mex, too, because, hey, this is San Antonio. The last time I was there I enjoyed the mole, a dish made from dried chiles, roasted tomatoes, ground nuts, herbs, spices, broth, and a bit of chocolate. The cochinita pibil, pork cooked slowly with achiote and sour orange, served with marinated onions, was wonderful, as was the pork cooked in a tasty green sauce. Rice and black beans accompany many of the meals. You can eat indoors in one of three cozy dining rooms, decorated with Mexican art prints and tile work, or outside on the small flower-decked wooden porch.
