Ruckman Haus ReviewThe accommodations in this pretty turn-of-the-20th-century stucco home, just a block from San Pedro Springs Park, are comfy but elegant, with lots of antiques and plenty of light. Two rooms offer showers with three body jets -- almost as good as an in-room massage. Two rooms share a large covered deck with ceiling fans; the Sun Room Suite has a private uncovered deck. Another room, the Highlands, is large enough to sleep three. Breakfasts are generous, and you can bond with fellow guests over afternoon drinks on either the covered deck or the shaded side patio with fountain. The in-room refrigerators come stocked with water and soft drinks. Hey, it can get toasty in San Antonio, and your friendly hosts don't want you to dehydrate! Designated smoking areas are outside. | 3 stars | Frommer's Exceptional |
Frommer's ranks every hotel, restaurant, attraction, shop, and nightlife establishment it reviews for quality, value, service, amenities, and special features using a star-rating scale, an expression of the strong compare-and-contrast opinions that are a brand hallmark.
Other ratings provide stars based primarily on price and amenities; the Frommer's star rating is meant to quantify the kind of intangible, experiential elements that help travelers make informed decisions.
The "baseline" recommendation is zero stars--every hotel, restaurant, attraction, shop, and nightlife establishment that Frommer's chooses to review is recommended; otherwise, we simply wouldn't include it.
