Mokara Hotel & Spa

This hotel is the best choice for anyone wishing to add pampering and relaxation to the San Antonio experience. Everything about this hotel is relaxing, and the spa is large, elaborate, and highly rated. Guest rooms have high ceilings; walls painted in light, cool shades of elemental colors; and lots of soft, natural light. Many have balconies overlooking the river, large enough to accommodate a couple of chairs. Marble bathrooms are oversized and offer jetted tubs and separate showers. The rooftop cafe and pool area offers yet another way to take in San Antonio in a relaxing way. And to all this add the easy, personal, and unobtrusive attention of the staff, and you have the total experience. The location is on one of my favorite stretches of the River Walk -- quiet, yet close to the main restaurant section, as well as the restaurants along East Houston Street. If you think you'll be making much use of the spa, consider getting one of the spa-level rooms, which come with hardwood floors and direct access to the facilities. A full-service salon is also on the premises.
