Homewood Suites by Hilton ReviewOccupying the former San Antonio Drug Company building (built in 1919), this all-suites hotel is a good downtown deal. Located on a central stretch of the river, it's convenient to most of the downtown attractions. Rooms have a homey feel, without much flash, but they are large, comfortable, and pragmatically furnished. In-room amenities, such as microwaves, refrigerators with ice makers, and dishwashers, appeal to business travelers and families alike. The dining area can double as a work space, and there's a sleeper sofa in each suite as well as two TVs. On weekdays in the early evening/late afternoon, the hotel offers refreshments and a light supper free of charge. One drawback, and part of the reason the hotel offers such a good deal is that, despite being on the river, there are no rooms with river views. The rooftop pool area offers attractive views of San Antonio and the river. Facilities: Note: This information was accurate when it was published, but can change without notice. | 3 stars | Frommer's Exceptional |
Frommer's ranks every hotel, restaurant, attraction, shop, and nightlife establishment it reviews for quality, value, service, amenities, and special features using a star-rating scale, an expression of the strong compare-and-contrast opinions that are a brand hallmark.
Other ratings provide stars based primarily on price and amenities; the Frommer's star rating is meant to quantify the kind of intangible, experiential elements that help travelers make informed decisions.
The "baseline" recommendation is zero stars--every hotel, restaurant, attraction, shop, and nightlife establishment that Frommer's chooses to review is recommended; otherwise, we simply wouldn't include it.
