King William Manor ReviewThis Greek revival mansion (1892) with an adjacent house (1901) was recently purchased by a young couple, Alison and Craig Clingan. They live on the property and hope to install a workshop for Craig, who is a glass blower. The common rooms are large and light and have long-leaf pine floors, and unusual walk-through windows leading to a veranda. Most of the guest rooms are in the second house. There is a good bit of variety, including some large rooms. One of the biggest and most private is the cottage attached to the guesthouse. Rooms are uncluttered and furnished with a mix of modern and period pieces. Both houses are set well back from Alamo Street and enjoy and extensive fenced yard and an outdoor pool. Access to the River Walk is just a block away. Facilities: Note: This information was accurate when it was published, but can change without notice. Frommer's ranks every hotel, restaurant, attraction, shop, and nightlife establishment it reviews for quality, value, service, amenities, and special features using a star-rating scale, an expression of the strong compare-and-contrast opinions that are a brand hallmark.
Other ratings provide stars based primarily on price and amenities; the Frommer's star rating is meant to quantify the kind of intangible, experiential elements that help travelers make informed decisions.
The "baseline" recommendation is zero stars--every hotel, restaurant, attraction, shop, and nightlife establishment that Frommer's chooses to review is recommended; otherwise, we simply wouldn't include it.
