Frommer's Review
For an airport hotel, the Doubletree is surprisingly serene. The same developer who converted a downtown seminary into the posh La Mansión del Río hotel was responsible for this hotel's design. Moorish arches, potted plants, stone fountains, and colorful tile create a Mediterranean mood in the public areas. Intricate wrought-iron elevators descend from the guest floors to the lushly landscaped pool patio, eliminating the need to tromp through the lobby in a swimsuit. Guest rooms are equally appealing, with brick walls painted in peach or beige, wood-beamed ceilings, draped French doors, and colorful contemporary art. And because this hotel gets a large business clientele from Mexico, most of the staff is bilingual. Guest rooms are nonsmoking.
