Frommer's Review
The massive Hotel Panamericano has long coasted on its reputation as one of Bariloche's premier accommodations, boasting a casino, a lake view, a range of amenities, and an upscale restaurant, QuVé. Its deluxe rating is exaggerated, however, especially when you compare this place to rivals such as the Llao Llao Hotel & Resort. Rooms are spacious and comfortable, but the design needs a face-lift, and appointments seem aged, tired, and boring. Lake views are available only above the fifth floor; in fact, the hotel rarely books rooms on the bottom floors unless they're hosting a convention, although they have plenty of tour groups that keep the hotel busy year-round. The back rooms face an ugly building, but they're cheaper. The junior suites are quite nice; they're actually a better deal than the regular suites. They're a tad smaller, but they come with plant-filled balcony patios, outdoor table and chairs, a fireplace, and a living area. A double comes with two full-size beds or one king-size. Inside the lobby, a faux waterfall trickles in the background, and a bar/lounge regularly has live piano music. You can laze around the steamy penthouse pool or exercise in a glass-enclosed exercise room while savoring the lake view; a personal trainer is on hand to offer special ski-oriented workouts in the winter. The hotel has another 100 or so rooms and a casino on the other side of the street, connected by an aerial walkway.
