Hostería Isla Victoria Lodge Review

How about a few nights at a remote lodge on an island in the middle of a huge mountain lake? Isla Victoria lodge, on the island of the same name, is located in the middle of the massive Nahuel Huapi Lake, and makes a divine upscale getaway. The views are truly stunning, with gourmet food, talented guides, and superb all-inclusive packages to match. The lodge itself was originally built in the 1940s and reopened (after a large fire) in 2002. In your spacious, comfortable room perched atop a cliff, you'll have the best view in the entire national park. But you won't be in your room much -- most of your time will be spent outside, exploring the island on foot, horseback, bike, or kayak. When the daily boat tours depart, you'll have the island to yourself. In the evenings, enjoy fine dining with an even finer view in the restaurant. It's romantic and intimate. Although children aren't specifically prohibited, families are gently discouraged, which is a shame as the island is a childhood dream come true. A 2-night stay here is just right.

Facilities:
Bar; wine cellar; outdoor pool; spa; library

About Our System

Frommer's ranks every hotel, restaurant, attraction, shop, and nightlife establishment it reviews for quality, value, service, amenities, and special features using a star-rating scale, an expression of the strong compare-and-contrast opinions that are a brand hallmark.

Other ratings provide stars based primarily on price and amenities; the Frommer's star rating is meant to quantify the kind of intangible, experiential elements that help travelers make informed decisions.

The "baseline" recommendation is zero stars--every hotel, restaurant, attraction, shop, and nightlife establishment that Frommer's chooses to review is recommended; otherwise, we simply wouldn't include it.
