Review of Children's Creativity MuseumThe museum formerly known as "Zeum" re-opened in October 2011 as the rebranded Children's Creativity Museum, letting visitors better know what to expect when you enter. First floor exhibits have been replaced with innovative creativity laboratories that mix the arts with technology. Also new are open-ended indoor play areas perfect for toddlers up to 6-year-olds (something that was sorely missing in its previous incarnation). Around the exterior spiral hallways, you'll find children's artwork prominently displayed as you head up to one of several multi-media labs that hit the right spot with elementary, middle and even high school students -- kids can shoot and manipulate digital images; write, record and air their own news broadcast or music video; or even animate a stop-action claymation short feature -- and the finished product goes home with your child. Next door is the fabulous 1906 carousel that once graced the city's bygone oceanside amusement park, Playland-at-the-Beach, and there's a Children's Garden, a cafe and a fun giftshop. Frommer's ranks every hotel, restaurant, attraction, shop, and nightlife establishment it reviews for quality, value, service, amenities, and special features using a star-rating scale, an expression of the strong compare-and-contrast opinions that are a brand hallmark.
Other ratings provide stars based primarily on price and amenities; the Frommer's star rating is meant to quantify the kind of intangible, experiential elements that help travelers make informed decisions.
The "baseline" recommendation is zero stars--every hotel, restaurant, attraction, shop, and nightlife establishment that Frommer's chooses to review is recommended; otherwise, we simply wouldn't include it.
