Frommer's Review
One of the first families to open a restaurant at the wharf continues its old-fashioned hospitality with a genuine sense of place, solid food, and an attentive staff -- all packaged in a pretty and spacious room overlooking the wharf. Accessed via an incognito elevator, this hidden restaurant offers something for everyone -- classic renditions of steak, lamb, seafood, chicken, and pasta, all made from scratch with fresh local ingredients -- but where A. Sabella's really shines is in the shellfish department. Its 1,000-gallon saltwater tank allows for fresh crab, abalone, and lobster year-round, which means no restaurant in the city can touch this spot when it comes to feasting on fresh Dungeness crab and abalone out of season. Of course, such luxuries are anything but cheap. But on the bright side, with the kids' menu, you can fill them up for a mere $7.50.
