Frommer's Review
Federal-style decor, Chippendale furnishings, grandfather clocks, Revolutionary War paintings, two fireplaces, and other period props throughout the lobby attempt to create a Colonial milieu. Although it makes for a pleasant entrance, the effect doesn't follow through to the modern guest rooms which, though comfortable and spacious, aren't winning any design awards with their striped white and light blue wallpaper and color-coordinated bedspreads. Despite the homely air conditioners in the walls, you could be quite content here, especially considering the extras -- umbrellas, voice mail, a morning ride to the Financial District, complimentary coffee from 6:30 to 9am, and evening wine hour from 5 to 6pm. The service is wonderful and the downtown location is primo. The adjoining Puccini & Pinetti restaurant features modern Italian cuisine.
