Frommer's Review
Come to this celestial high-rise cocktail lounge and nightclub, where tourists and locals watch the sunset at dusk and boogie down to live '70s '80s music, Motown covers, and jazz and funk Friday through Tuesday nights; '80s vogue DJ on Thursday nights; or the DJs' hip-hop and Top-40 tunes after dark on Wednesdays. The room is classic 1930s San Francisco, with red-velvet banquettes, chandeliers, and fabulous views. But what really attracts flocks of all ages is a night of Harry Denton-style fun, which usually includes plenty of drinking and unrestrained dancing. The full bar stocks a decent collection of single-malt Scotches and champagnes, and you can snack from the pricey Starlight appetizer menu (make a reservation to guarantee a table and you'll also have a place to rest your weary dancing-dogs). Early evening is more relaxed, but come the weekend, this place gets loose. Tip: Come dressed for success (no casual jeans, open-toed shoes for men, or sneakers), or you'll be turned away at the door.
