Frommer's Review
Located 3 miles (5km) outside of San Ignacio and operated by Fred Prost, who once ran the popular Seaside Guest House in Belize City, the Parrot's Nest features some of the more unique rooms in the Cayo District. Set on a 5-acre (2-hectare) tropical plant farm on the banks of the Mopan River, this simple lodge consists of a few rustic wooden cabins. Two of these are set high on stilts, amongst the branches of a huge guanacaste tree. Only one of the units has a private bathroom, but the shared showers and toilets are kept immaculate. A host of tours and activities can be arranged. You can also take an inner tube right from the lodge and spend some time floating on the river.
To get here, take Waight's Avenue west out of the center of San Ignacio. This turns into Bullet Tree Falls Road. If you arrange it in advance, the owners will often provide pickup, or a taxi should cost you around BZ$16 (US$8).
