Located just across busy Avenida 2 from the Museo Nacional, this place offers up clean and cheerful rooms in the heart of downtown. The Victorian-style building dates to 1928 and has been immaculately restored. Rooms are spacious and feature either varnished wood or original ornate tile floors. The small restaurant here is set on a small pedestrian mall that leads to the Costa Rican Court complex, and features a few outdoor tables perfect for people-watching. The only downside here is the fact that Avenida 2 is one of the city's busiest and loudest, with a steady stream of bus, truck, and even train traffic struggling up the steep hill that crests right at this hotel. Even the rooms farthest from the street are susceptible to street noise.
