A relaxing, informal, European-style hotel, El Canario is in a quiet residential neighborhood just a short block from Condado Beach. The place is a bit run-down, and staff members are not too helpful, but it charges affordable rates. The hotel is very much in the Condado styling, which evokes Miami Beach in the 1960s. The bedrooms are generous in size and have balconies. Most of them have twin beds and a sleek and contemporary bathroom, with a shower stall and enough space to spread out your stuff. If the hotel doesn't have room for you, it can book you into El Canario Inn.
