This seven-story, white-painted structure, expanded in 2003, offers a desirable Condado location but without the towering prices of the grand resorts along the beach. The hotel is about a 2-minute walk from Condado Beach and is convenient to Old San Juan (a 15-min. drive) and the airport (a 20-min. drive). Most accommodations have two double beds (ideal for families) and ceiling fans, and each has a small bathroom with tub and shower. Many open onto balconies with water views. There's a small pool with a nice shaded area as well. It's close to the renovated La Concha and the Window of the Sea Park beside it. For years, we avoided this area beside the Condado Lagoon that suffered from the closure of La Concha and neighboring hotels. Compounding problems were the severe sewage backups that would occur in area streets after heavy rains. This problem has abated, and with the new hotel now opened, this area of Avenida Ashford is now home to top-name designer boutiques and great restaurants of all price ranges. So we're hot on this hood again, making this one of your better budget options.
