This restaurant, located 4 1/2 miles north of Friday Harbor, perfectly sums up the San Juan Islands experience. It's rustic and casual, set in tranquil rural surroundings beside a small pond, and yet serves superb multicourse dinners. Inside the quintessentially Northwest building, you'll find lots of exposed wood and a fieldstone fireplace. The menu changes frequently, depending on the availability of fresh produce, but is always very creative (the chef has a penchant for the flavors of Asia and the Mediterranean). You might find house-made local lamb sausage with chervil-coriander pasta or sea scallops crusted with Indian spices.
