Just to the right as you get off the ferry, and housed in a small wooden building that was once part of a U.S. Coast Guard station, The Place is the island's finest waterfront restaurant. The menu changes regularly, but one of my favorite dishes -- baked oysters with hazelnut-garlic butter -- is almost always available. Looking for something else? Try the Pacific Rim bouillabaisse. No matter what you order, I recommend starting your meal with the mushroom sauté, which has been featured in Bon Appetit magazine.
