Even by island standards, this place is expensive, but the food is the best, and the menu the most ambitious you'll find on San Juan Island. Veering from the island standard of simple, well-prepared seafood, 120 Nichols explores the world of haute cuisine, with fresh seasonal ingredients driving the menu. You might start your meal with wild-mushroom risotto or smoked-mussel ravioli, but when it comes to your entree, be sure to order the delicious potato-crusted halibut with chardonnay-cream sauce, fried basil, and Meyer lemons. This tiny restaurant in a restored old home in downtown Friday Harbor has only eight tables, so reservations are imperative.
