If the prices at the Explora are a little beyond your budget but you're looking for an all-inclusive package, you might try this exclusive little hotel near the main street. The Terrantai is in a 100-year-old home that was renovated by a well-known Chilean architect, who preserved the building's flat-fronted facade, adobe walls, and thatched roof. The style is pure minimalism, and every inch of the interior hallways and the rooms is made of stacked river rock. The rooms are very comfortable, with down comforters, linen curtains, soft reading lights, and local art. Most rooms have large floor-to-ceiling windows that look out onto a pleasant garden patio. The Terrantai has a small restaurant for its inclusive meals, and there is outdoor dining. It's in a good central location. Packages include meals, airport transfers, and daily excursions with guides -- the hotel does not book hotel-only stays.
