Is Board Necessary?

Many hotels offer room-and-board rates that include breakfast, lunch, and dinner (full board or full pension) or breakfast and one of these other two meals (half-board or half-pension). Only in the busy late July and early August beach season do many require you to take these meals, however. If you can procure a room without the meal plan, do so -- San Remo has many excellent restaurants, and this is not a place where you have to spend a lot for a good meal.
