Frommer's Review
Lace, flowery upholstery, and stained glass surround you at this 1886 Queen Anne-style inn just 5 blocks east of the plaza. All rooms have terry robes and some offer fireplaces. One of my favorites is the Morning Glory, with a king-size bed, a corner fireplace, and lots of sun. All rooms have comfortable beds and those in the main house have small baths. An adjacent cottage built in 1987 received an award for compatible architecture from the Santa Fe Historical Association. The two rooms in the cottage are larger than the other rooms, with king-size beds and bay windows, some of the nicest rooms in the city. In winter, a full breakfast is served family style at the adjacent Hacienda Nicholas, which is under the same excellent management. In the Victorian-cum-Asian lobby and out on a flagstone patio surrounded by flowers and fruit trees, visitors enjoy chai from the Absolute Nirvana Spa, Tea Room & Gardens (tel. 505/983-7942; www.absolutenirvana.com). This creation, voted one of the three best spas in town by the Santa Fe Reporter, offers luscious chai and imaginative Indo-Asian spa treatments and facials.
