If you're looking for a traditional, full-service hotel, this attractive and comfortable mainstay in Solvang is away from the congested main drag. Popular with conventions and leisure groups, the Royal Scandinavian has an all-day restaurant and cocktail lounge and is within walking distance of downtown Solvang; the championship Alisal River Golf Course is next door. Ask for a room overlooking the courtyard -- the view extends to the foothills beyond. The hotel's restaurant, Meadows, is one of the better options in the area, with an attractive patio for dining -- equipped with heaters for cool nights and misters for hot days.
