Review of Saratoga Automobile MuseumHoused in an old bottling plant in the middle of Saratoga Spa State Park, this surprising museum will delight car lovers. On view are some interesting classic automobiles representing the once-vital New York State auto industry, such as Charles A. Lindbergh's 1928 Franklin, made in Syracuse, and an extraordinary 1931 Pierce Arrow, manufactured in Buffalo. The top floor is devoted to race cars, and there are curiosities like the 1957 BMW Isetta 300, called the "Rolling Egg." Kids into cars will love the tables set up with pads of paper and crayons and an invitation to draw and display their "dream car." A recent exhibit was "Mid-Century Marvels," full of two-seat roadsters and convertibles. A spin through the museum should take about 45 minutes. | 3 stars | Frommer's Exceptional |
Frommer's ranks every hotel, restaurant, attraction, shop, and nightlife establishment it reviews for quality, value, service, amenities, and special features using a star-rating scale, an expression of the strong compare-and-contrast opinions that are a brand hallmark.
Other ratings provide stars based primarily on price and amenities; the Frommer's star rating is meant to quantify the kind of intangible, experiential elements that help travelers make informed decisions.
The "baseline" recommendation is zero stars--every hotel, restaurant, attraction, shop, and nightlife establishment that Frommer's chooses to review is recommended; otherwise, we simply wouldn't include it.
