This park is built around the archaeological discovery of 21-plus Northern Plains Indian precontact sites. Walking along its trails, you'll see archaeological digs in progress, habitation sites, stone cairns, tepee rings, bison jumps, and other trace features of this ancient culture. At the amphitheater, First Nations performers present dance, theater, song, and storytelling; at the outdoor activity area, you can learn how to build a tepee, bake bannock, tan a hide, or use a travois (a transportation device). The exhibit halls feature computer-activated displays and artifacts, multimedia shows exploring the archaeology and culture of the Plains peoples, and a fascinating collection of contemporary Native Canadian art.
