Along the north bank of the South Saskatchewan River, just a short walk from downtown, is the Mendel Art Gallery. Housed in a striking Modernist building, the gallery has collected over 5,000 works of art in different media, including paintings, sculpture, prints, and drawings of national importance. The collection began with the acquisition of works by Canada's famed Group of Seven landscape artists, but the focus now extends to vital and very compelling works by contemporary Saskatchewan artists.
