Getting There

By Plane--Sault Ste. Marie Airport (tel. 705/779-3031; www.saultairport.com) is about a 25-minute drive west of downtown, accessible from the north and east by Highway 17. Major car-rental companies are housed at terminal building near baggage. It's an easy, 15-mile drive to downtown. If you're not renting, three hotels offer separate shuttle buses -- the Best Western, the Water Tower Inn and the Delta Hotel Waterfront, ranging in price from $10-$15 per person, one way; reservations are recommended. Or try one of two limousine services, such as Elite Limo (tel. 705/759-5757). Their rate is $24 per person. Skyline Limousines or Comfort Limousines (tel. 705/942-0500 charges $20 per person, or $35 for two people going to the same address). Taxis are available; expect the fare to run about $32 into downtown.
