The undisputed stars here are the small inns in the Historic District, most in restored old homes that have been renovated with modern conveniences while retaining every bit of their original charm.

A note on rates: Because many of Savannah's historic inns are in converted former residences, price ranges can vary greatly. A very expensive hotel might also have some smaller and more moderately priced units. So it pays to ask. Advance reservations are necessary in most cases, since many of the best properties are quite small.

By and large, the double rooms in the recommended hotels and inns have private bathrooms with tub/shower combinations, unless otherwise noted.
