By Plane -- Savannah Hilton Head International Airport is about 8 miles west of downtown just off I-16. American (tel. 800/433-7300; www.aa.com), Delta (tel. 800/221-1212; www.delta.com), United (tel. 800/241/6522; www.united.com), and US Airways (tel. 800/428-4322; www.usairways.com) have flights from Atlanta and Charlotte, with connections from other points.
By Car -- From the north or south, I-95 passes 10 miles west of Savannah, with several exits to the city, and U.S. 17 runs through the city. From the west, I-16 ends in downtown Savannah, and U.S. 80 also runs through the city from east to west.
