Frommer's Review
There was an outcry from Savannah's historic preservation movement when this place went up in 1981. Boxy and massively bulky, and fully renovated in 2006, it stands in unpleasant contrast to the restored warehouses flanking it along the legendary banks of the Savannah River. Today it is grudgingly accepted as one of the biggest and flashiest hotels in town. It has a soaring atrium as well as glass-sided elevators. The comfortable rooms, often with paper-thin walls, are international and modern in their feel, all with good-size bathrooms and some with balconies overlooking the atrium. Room prices vary according to their views -- units without a view are quite a bargain. Chances are, you'll find better food by dining outside the hotel at one of the independent restaurants recommended.
