Frommer's Review
Lomalagi means "Heaven" in Fijian, and in one way that's an apt description for American Collin McKenny's little resort, for it sits high up on a hill overlooking Natewa Bay, a 30-minute drive east of Savusavu. One of her first guests was the late Beatle George Harrison, who was drawn to the resort's remoteness. The remains of a ukulele he gave the local villagers hangs in the dining room. A trail leads downhill to the shoreline, and there's a fine beach a short walk away, but the center of attention is a kidney-shaped seawater swimming pool with two waterfalls. It, the dining room, bar, and guest bungalows are spread out in a lawn under coconut trees on top of the hill. Each spacious, plantation-style tin-roof bure has a kitchen and a two-person soaking tub as well as a shower. All have decks with stunning views. The executive and honeymoon units have better views than the others. You can pay for village visits and horseback riding. Collin will arrange scuba diving at Koro Sun Resort, the nearest facility. Children under 12 are not accepted here.
