Located at Poria, on the western side of the Sea of Galilee in the hills overlooking the lake 4km (2 1/2 miles) to the southwest of Tiberias, this rustic, small IYHA hostel in a beautiful setting can arrange for family or private rooms when the hostel is not full, kitchen facilities, clean sheets, and hot water, and is open all day long. Because it is so high above the lake, it's a bit cooler on summer nights than Tiberias itself, which is below sea level. This is a delightful inexpensive base for travelers with cars; there is no public bus, and it's often reserved for large groups who come with their own bus. Call for current information.
