Frommer's Review
On a pier at the north end of the waterfront, The Edgewater is Seattle's only hotel situated directly on Elliott Bay. It was designed to resemble a deluxe fishing lodge, and, despite the urban setting, manages to capture the feel of a classic Northwest wilderness retreat. The views out the windows are among the best in Seattle, and sunsets can be mesmerizing. On a clear day, you can see the Olympic Mountains across Puget Sound. Gaze out across Elliott Bay from a seat by the lobby's river-stone fireplace and you'll see why this is one of my favorite Seattle hotels. The mountain-lodge theme continues in the rooms, which feature rustic fireplaces and lodgepole-pine furniture. However, the rooms also have 42-inch plasma-screen HDTVs. The least expensive units overlook the city (and the parking lot), so it's worth it to spring for a water view. The rooms with balconies--my top choice--are a bit smaller than other rooms, although the premium water-view rooms, with clawfoot tubs and walls that open out to those great views, are hard to beat. Beatles fans can stay in the same suite the Fab Four had when they visited back in 1964.
