Getting There -- Trains arrive regularly from Montpellier, and Sète is on the TGV line that runs from Paris to Perpignan. The Totem bus network (tel. 04-67-74-21-06; www.cars-bassin-thau.com) operates within Sète and connects it to the other towns along the coast and on the Etang de Thau. If you're driving, Sète is off the A9.

Special Events -- Every August, the people of Sète pay homage to their patron saint with the Fêtes de la Saint-Louis, which includes 6 days of nonstop music, dancing, fireworks, and, that favorite Sétois pastime, water-jousting tournaments on the canal.
