Italian fine dining at its best, which in this case includes an extensive wine list and the city at your feet, this restaurant atop the St. Regis Hotel is well worth a special trip out to Pudong. Tasteful and elegant, the restaurant is laid out with an open kitchen and a handful of window tables, which you should request when you make your reservation. Service is highly attentive, and the waitstaff unerringly seems to know when to replenish the ciabatta bread that has gone cold. The menu, which changes every few months, features all manner of excellent pesci and carni, but it's the pastas that fans love (giving this restaurant "the best pasta" award in a local expatriate dining magazine competition), with the risotto and ravioli doing particularly well. Save room for their sinful desserts, washed down with some delightfully bracing Illy coffee. From service to the food, everything is done just right here.
