The second Ritz-Carlton to open in Shanghai was too new to review at press time, but guests can likely expect all the luxury and high-caliber service that is associated with the brand. Lodged in the upper 18 levels of the 58-story South Tower of the Shanghai International Finance Center (IFC), the hotel is like an Art Deco jewelry box (beige and gold dominate in the main areas) with Chinese flourishes. Rooms should please even the most exacting visitor: Amenities include 400-thread-count bed linens, a 42-inch LCD TV with Blu-ray disc player, and a Bose Wave Music System with iPod dock, among other indulgences. Expect the views from the hotel to be stellar on a good day: panoramic, but not so high up as to miss all the details. The hotel is well situated in Lujiazui with easy access to sights like the Jin Mao Building, the Shanghai World Financial Center, the Riverside Promenade, and the slew of luxury shops at Shanghai IFC. The subway station is nearby as well.
