This four-star hotel, located just north of the Hilton, has resuscitated its reputation from the late 1990s when it was perceived as a somewhat sordid hotel where solicitations were commonplace. International management of the 27-story tower, provided by a Singapore group, now seems determined to maintain a squeaky clean image and has improved the overall quality of stay quite a bit. Guest rooms, renovated in 2006, are bright and airy, with just enough room for a work desk, coffee table, and two chairs. Fitness facilities are extensive. The generally helpful staff speaks fairly good English. Guests using the Lobby Lounge have access to Apple ibook computers. With discounts averaging 50%, this is an attractively priced, perfectly comfortable option if the Hilton next door proves too dear.
