Opened in 1986 as the first foreign-managed luxury hotel in Shanghai, the former Sheraton Hua Ting reverted to local management in 1996. The hotel shows wear, despite renovation attempts to maintain its five-star facilities. Rooms vary in size depending on where they're located in the "S" shaped building. Deluxe rooms, larger and considerably nicer than superior rooms, sport modern furniture, thick carpets, and comfortable beds. Marble bathrooms are simple but clean and come with full amenities. This is the nicest hotel in the Shanghai Stadium area, but service is just average, so stay here only if you can arrange a substantial savings on room rates.
