A 2002 arrival on Shanghai's luxury hotel scene, mainland China's first Four Seasons offers top-quality pampering and one of the most luxurious stays in town. Well located in the thick of Puxi (Nanjing Lu is a 5-min. walk and the Shanghai Museum a 10-min. stroll), this modern 37-story tower offers lavish rooms and suites that are spacious and warmly decorated in gold and beige with red and blue trims. The furniture is classical and the patented Four Seasons bed alone is worth the stay. Each room is also equipped with three telephones, high-speed Internet access, yukatas (thin, unlined kimonos), and safes large enough for laptop computers. Marble bathrooms have separate shower and tub. Best of all, this hotel delivers impeccable service, from its 24-hour butler service for each guest to the highly efficient, friendly but discreet multilingual staff throughout the hotel.
