Frommer's Review
Except for those who need to catch early morning trains, few Western individual travelers stay at this Holiday Inn located just south of the Shanghai Railway Station. Even though there's a Metro entrance a mere block away, making access to downtown Shanghai relatively easy, the perception remains that it's inconvenient. The neighborhood is also a bit chaotic and there's not much within walking distance. Still, the hotel gamely musters on, relying mostly on business travelers, and offering attractive discounts (up to 50%). There are two separate towers: The eastern Plaza Wing is quieter and slightly more upscale than the western Great Wall Wing, though room rates are virtually the same at both. Rooms are modern with all the expected four-star amenities. Unfortunately, service is hit-or-miss.
Facilities:
3 restaurants; 2 lounges; health club with sauna; concierge; business center; salon; 24-hr. room service; same-day laundry service/dry cleaning; nonsmoking rooms; executive-level rooms; rooms for those w/limited mobility; bowling alley
