This grand five-star Marriott is the top hotel address in the Hongqiao Airport neighborhood and appeals primarily to upscale conference delegates and travelers whose business takes them to western Shanghai. (Count Microsoft's Bill Gates as one of its previous guests.) Among its high-tech features is wireless broadband Internet access, available from rooms, restaurants, and the lobby. The guest rooms themselves are large and gracefully appointed with comfortable beds and DVD players. The zoo is a short walk away, but other attractions require a short taxi ride to town. The hotel is often sold out during weekdays but offers substantial discounts on weekends.
