The five-floor Prince D' Angkor is just on the north end of town. Enter off of central Sivatha into a quiet central-courtyard parking lot, and you'll see that the lobby is a grand rotunda of fluted wooden pillars and heavy crown molding with grand, tasseled drapery to complete the effect: sort of like a caricature of old European opulence (without the opulence). The place is quiet because, even though at the center of town, a large shopping complex keeps the sound out of this quiet courtyard. The Prince D' Angkor, something like the many midrange hotels on the nearby airport road, caters to budget groups. Rooms are large and have all the amenities -- a minibar and DVD player -- and the decor is replete with heavy wooden detail, heavy drapery with tassels, and large four-poster beds. Bathrooms are large and immaculate, with black granite counters, and all have separate tubs and glass-walled showers. There's a wooden block of buildings at the back with junior suites of a fine high standard. Cultural shows are frequently held here on a large outdoor stage at poolside, and work was just completed on an extensive spa. Staff is friendly and helpful.
