This 14th-century church on the edge of town was remodeled by Sienese master architect Baldassare Peruzzi in 1517 and contains some good baroque works. Search out especially Domenico Beccafumi's eerily luminous St. Michael, on the right wall's altar. The chapel holds Sodoma's dark Birth of the Virgin. The left side of the church has -- to balance the Beccafumi -- a beat-up but well-done Ascension by Girolamo del Pacchia.
