The great Sienese Renaissance architect Peruzzi built this villa on a ridge northwest of the city in 1530 for the Gori family. It even has a small-scale replica of Siena's Campo, with a view of the tower over the real one far in the distance. The inside, however, has mostly been redone -- the salons and bar area in a Belle Epoque style and the rooms in an uninspired but plush modern style. With these prices, the bathrooms could stand an overhaul. It is, however, one of the few hotels in Tuscany with its own golf course, and the hotel keeps a few well-manicured gardens.
