This small family-run hotel could thumb its nose at the big corporate chains: It offers equally comfortable modernity with twice the character at one-third the price. In both the main building and the dipendenza across the street, the rooms have tiled floors; brand-new, wood-toned built-in furnishings with stone-topped desks and end tables; and leather strap chairs. The bathrooms are immaculately new, and everything is kept spotless. This place gets a star for being as clean, comfortable, and central as you're ever going to find, especially at these prices. Book early. The only real drawback is the 12:30am curfew.
